Amy Grobe, RD, CDE
Fit4D Nutrition Coach
Amy Grobe has known from a young age that she wanted to work in the field of nutrition and dietetics. It was during her high school years, when peer pressure and emphasis on one’s looks were at an all-time high, that Amy took an interest to reading about nutrition and healthy eating. The more she learned, the more fascinated she became by the importance of proper nutrition in maintaining health and treating diseases. When it came time to apply for college, Amy already had plans of majoring in Nutrition and Dietetics.
After graduating from the University of Delaware with a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, Amy went on to complete her dietetic internship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. From there, she started her first job as a Registered Dietitian at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway in her home state of New Jersey. It was during her time working here that she began to love the patient interaction and education that is such a large part of being a dietitian. She became especially interesting in working with people with diabetes because nutrition is such a big component of diabetes management.
With her mind fixed on becoming a Certified Diabetes Educator, Amy made the change to working at the Molly Diabetes Education Center, an outpatient facility at Hackensack University Medical Center. “It was such a great feeling to have found my niche so early on in my career,” she notes. “Having more time to sit with my patients and get to know them on a personal level makes all the difference. There is nothing more rewarding than watching another person gain confidence and motivation to make positive life changes!”
After almost six years at the Diabetes Center, Amy moved on to the next phase of her career and began working in private practice with Riverfront Nutrition Associates, where she still works today.
Amy is thrilled to be a part of the Fit4D coaching team. She appreciates being able to reach out to people across the country and act as additional support for those learning to manage their diabetes.
